Histoire du théâtre

Le plus ancien Toone remonte à 1830. Il est né en 1804 et s’appelait Antoine Genty. Il eut un règne exceptionnel de quarante-cinq ans. Toone, diminutif bruxellois d’Antoine, a mené de 1830 à 1890 le jeu d’Ourson et de Valentin, de Vivier et Malgase, des Quatre Fils Aymon et de quelques œuvres d’inspiration religieuse. On le signale tour à tour rue des Sabots (actuellement rue de Wynants), rue du Miroir, rue des Vers (rue Pieremans), rue Christine et Impasse des Liserons, avant d’aller finir ses jours dans un hospice.
